After 2016’s record-breaking season for numbers of participants at both the World Championships in Torbole, Italy, and at the European Championships in Sopot, Poland, the Techno class braniacs took the ambitious decision to separate the two classes, Techno 293 OD and Techno 293+, running them at different dates and on different spots. Result : two major international gatherings will therefore be taking place on the Atlantic coast, just a few kilometres from the BIC Sport production centre where the boards themselves are manufactured.
From 16th to 20th July : the Techno + World championships at St Pierre Quiberon/ French National Watersports Centre. Organised by the CDV (Club De Voile/Sailing Club) 56, this first ever stand-alone Techno+ World Championship will also be used as a qualifying round for the Youth Olympics that will be taking place next year in Buenos Aires, Argentina. 170 riders are already signed up for the World Championships in this class which is very rapidly gaining in popularity and importance !
From 22nd to 29th July : Techno 293OD European Championships at Lorient – Larmor. Organised by the Lorient CN (Sailing Club), this event will bring together the best European riders on the beach at Kerguelen, opposite the Ile de Groix. 230 entries have already been received and that figure is rising every day !
